WEEDSPORT -- Baby Easton Friedel is back in the hospital tonight, according to an update on the Friedel family’s Facebook page.

Easton's family says he has been admitted to the emergency room with a bulging fontanelle, or the soft spot on a babies’ head, and atrophy on the front part of the brain.

According to the post, Easton’s brain "has stopped growing and isn't developing normally... they think it most likely occurred when he was septic.”

The family says doctors don’t know if the bulge and the atrophy are related, but a neurologist will be running more tests.

Easton suffers from EB, a rare skin disorder that causes painful blisters all over his body. They are referred to as “butterfly babies” because their skin is paper thin, like a butterfly wing. Because of this, the baby is extremely prone to infections.

Michael Benny had an exclusive look into the Friedel family, and what a day is like with a “butterfly baby” at home.

We will have more as the family gives updates.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is holding a hot dog roast tomorrow from 12pm to 5pm at 79 Van Anden Street in Auburn, with proceeds benefitting baby Easton.
