UTICA -- The Utica Schools Superintendent proposed a $138 million dollar budget Tuesday evening. The Utica Observer Dispatch newspaper reports the spending plan calls for cutting 88 jobs, 54 of them are teachers.

"I tried to balance our needs with what taxpayers could afford, in light of the fact that the state is underfunding us with state aid," the Superintendent told the paper, "There's nothing left to cut."
