SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner announced Wednesday that the Syracuse Jet Association, with the City of Syracuse Department of Aviation, has plans to build a $6 million facility at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
Miner says the facility will be the first private development on airport property in over ten years. It will be built to LEED Platinum Standards.
The planned facility will have 10,000 square feet of administrative space and over 4,000 square feet of hangar space, according to the media release.
The Syracuse Jet Association facility will be run as a cooperative organization that will be funded by its members, not a national chain of operators, says Miner. A launch customer of the firm will be local operator MetroAir.
“This is an innovative business model that will work to expand air access for commercial enterprises and travelers and bring more people into the City of Syracuse and Central New York region,” said Miner in a media release.
“Business travelers needing corporate or charter aircraft depend on reliable service and convenient, modern facilities,” said Robert M. Simpson, president of CenterState CEO, in a media release. “The new Syracuse Jet Association terminal will be a welcome addition as a new gateway with added amenities for its members and visitors at Hancock Airport.”
