SYRACUSE -- A sloppy mixture of steady snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain has moved across Central New York while you were sleeping. This has caused anywhere from a half inch to 3 inches of snow depending upon location and elevation.

View school closings and meteorologist Peter Hall's complete weather forecast.

There are poor road conditions on streets that have not been treated or plowed. As a result, some morning commutes could be rough with the worst conditions over the higher elevations.

There is a winter weather advisory in effect for Central New York through this morning.

Only very light, spotty, intermittent, insignificant precipitation will occur early and mid morning for central and southern New York. The steadiest precipitation through mid-morning will occur across the North Country. Later this afternoon, a new batch of steadier rain and wet snow will move in.

It will be a windy morning but that is expected to diminish.

Today’s high is expected to be 39 degrees with a low of 32.
