SYRACUSE -- The next time you head to the gym make sure to lock your car.

Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say there has been an increase in car break-ins at various fitness center parking lots throughout Onondaga County. Deputies say the majority of vehicles were unlocked.

Deputies are warning drivers to lock their car and not leave purses, GPS systems or electronic devices in the car. Thieves target these items.

Deputies advise drivers to make sure you park in busy, well lit areas.
