TOWN OF ENFIELD -- Convicted sex offender Shane Jacobs is still at large, and Trumansburg Police told CNY Central on Sunday that they believe he is still in their area.

Police confirmed that they found Jacobs’ car abandoned on Route 79 in the Town of Enfield, about six miles south of where his GPS locator bracelet was found cut off near Trumansburg School District campus.

They did not know how long it had been there, but police say they searched a nearby house where they had thought Jacobs might be, but did not find him.

Police now believe Jacobs is still in the Trumansburg/Enfield area, possibly being hidden by friends.

Trumansburg Police are not putting out any additional alerts to the residents of the area, as several law enforcement agencies are searching for Jacobs.
