ELLENVILLE, NY (AP) --

An Ulster County woman faces sentencing in May on a conviction for failing to provide proper care for 95 birds.

A jury found 54-year-old Kathy Murphy of Wawarsing guilty of 95 misdemeanor counts on Thursday. Two veterinarians and an investigator from the Ulster County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals testified at her trial. They said the ducks, chickens and geese on Murphy's property were kept in crowded, unsanitary conditions.

The birds were in poor health, with eye injuries, infected wounds, and respiratory illnesses.

Town of Wawarsing Judge Wayne Lonstein will sentence Murphy on May 10.
