UTICA, ONEIDA CO. -- All Utica schools were lockdown Friday afternoon and all after-school activities were cancelled.

According to the Utica O.D., Utica schools went into lockdown sometime around 1:40 p.m. because New Hartford police were looking for a man wanted in connection with a domestic incident who had threatened to harm himself or someone else.

School officials say there was a rumor that a man with a weapon may have been in North Utica, prompting the district to take precautionary measures. Officials tell CNY Central that the rumor was unfounded and the man was not in North Utica or near the school. No weapon was seen.

Students were dismissed from school.

School officials tell CNY Central there is an ongoing active investigation into the domestic incident.
