SYRACUSE -- It will be a quiet, sunny day in Central New York on Tuesday, but wintry weather is on the way.

It will be the brightest day of the week but sunny skies will give way to light cloud cover around midday and thicker clouds later in the afternoon.

There is a blizzard over the Midwest that will produce of wintry precipitation for Central New York including rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Roads could get slippery Wednesday morning due to near freezing temperatures.

The heaviest snowfall is expected to occur over southern Ontario, Canada and over the Catskills and Adirondacks. Elsewhere, some slightly higher totals are still possible over the highest peeks of south-central and north-central New York; however, with a wintry mixture, usually, lower end amounts work better.
