ITHACA -- At about 9:30 on Monday night, the Ithaca Police got a call about a possible prowler inside the First Baptist Church of Ithaca.

The prowler was seen operating some kind of small light while navigating through the church.

The Ithaca Police Department says that officers responded to the call and caught 34-year-old Patrick M. Arliss at the scene.  He was apprehended without incident or injury to anyone.

There was minimal damage or tampering done to the church property.  The initial report includes the theft of perishable items.

Arliss has been charged with burglary in the third degree and possession of burglar's tools.
