ALBANY (AP) -- New York is providing $250 million for renewable energy generation projects to modernize the state's energy infrastructure.

The funding is available through a competitive process overseen by the State Energy Research and Development Authority.

The program is geared to wind, hydroelectric, solar, biomass and other clean-energy resources.

The projects that will get funding are to be announced by next summer.

The state currently has contracts with two biomass and 10 landfill biogas plants, 25 hydroelectric facilities, and 17 wind farms.
