VERNON (AP) -- Having the same birthday as The Boss paid off for an 8-year-old Central New York boy.

Michael Paternoster Sr. of Pulaski took his family to Wednesday night's concert by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Vernon Downs. Paternoster tells the Post-Standard of Syracuse that he has been to more than two dozen Springsteen concerts, and his son, Michael Jr., is a big fan, too.

The family was standing in the pit in front of the stage when the sign Michael Jr. was holding caught Springsteen's eye. The sign had Michael's name and his birthday, September 23, the same as Springsteen's.

The musician pulled Michael Jr. on stage to sing "Waitin' on a Sunny Day" with the band. The boy knew the words by heart and got a big reaction from the crowd.
