Water main break on Fayette Street
SYRACUSE -- Repair crews were on the scene of a water main break that sprung up overnight in downtown Syracuse.
The water came back on around 11:20 a.m. The Water Department says if residents have murky water, run the water until it turns clear.
The Syracuse Water Department tells CNY Central that a report of the break came in around 2:00 a.m., and a work crew was dispatched to Fayette Street. Once there they found a large underground pipe had ruptured, and water was shooting dozens of feet into the air and spilling all over the street. Workers were able to get the water turned off and the flood under control shortly after 5:00.
The Water Department says Fayette Street between Clinton Street and Franklin Street – near the Atrium garage – is closed while repairs are made.
