DEWITT -- Nine bands representing high schools in the region are getting set to take part in the 11th annual Jewish Community Center Battle of the Bands on Saturday.

This year, the battle will take place at a new location, the SPOT Teen Center in Shoppingtown Mall in Dewitt. Nine bands are signed up to battle at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

The grand prize features $200 in cash, a 6 hour studio recording demo, a live performance on 95X, a live performance at The SPOTS Music Showcase later this spring, and more.

Battle of the Bands judges includes The Post-Standard’s music writer Mark Bialczak, co-owner of SubCat Recording Studio Jeremy Johnston, and co-owner of Gorham Brothers Music. Scott Dixon of 95X will emcee the event.

Admission is $8 per person, with some of the money going back to participating schools music departments.
