SENECA COUNTY -- An infant in Seneca County has died from viral meningitis.

Dieter Tackett II was not breathing when emergency crews arrived at his home in Romulus on September 14.

The little boy was taken to Geneva General Hospital and later transported to the pediatric intensive care unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he later died.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of the boy's death was Lymphocytic Leptomeningitis, which is a form of viral meningitis. "There was not then, nor is there now, any evidence to suggest foul play. Based on our investigation and that of the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office this was a tragic death of an infant and our hearts go out to the family and friends of Dieter Tackett II," said Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg.
