EAST SYRACUSE -- Central New York tattoo enthusiasts will have plenty to do this weekend at the 27th annual AM-JAM Tattoo Expo.

The three day event kicks off Friday at the Best Western Plus in East Syracuse.

Some of the top tattoo artists in the business will be showing off their skills and competitions will be held each day for best tattoo's in different categories.

Well known body modification performer, the "Lizzardman", is also scheduled to make an appearance. Carmello Silva, owner of Carmello's Ink City, on Wolf Street in Syracuse, demonstrated his skill live on the air Friday morning on Today in Central New York.

Silva says tattooing is becoming more and more popular in recent years.

"We are getting a lot more people coming into the shop who see the tattoo shows on TV. It is becoming accepted more as an art form," Silva says.

The AM-JAM Tattoo Expo runs from January 25th-27th at the Best Western Plus on Old Collamer Rd. in East Syracuse.

Cost is $10 per day or $25 dollars for all three.
