SYRACUSE -- It will be a cold day with a smattering of snow showers and flurries in the Central New York area on Thursday, according to meteorologist Peter Hall.

Most of the area will get a coating to an inch and a half of snow. Areas directly east of Lake Ontario-where the snow is steadier-could see 3 to 6 inches.
The steadiness of the showers and flurries will vary but it will be a windy day and, coupled with the powdery snow, visibility could be an issue.
The showers and flurries should weaken as we go through the afternoon and there should be just some leftover flurries by evening.
The high for Thursday is expected to be 29 degrees with a low of 19. It’s mid-March, but wind chills today will make it feel like January.
