SYRACUSE -- A 12-year-old boy was arrested after Syracuse police say he robbed a LeMoyne College student of her purse, at gunpoint.

Police say the a 19-year-old woman was approached by the suspect and three other juvenile suspects as she was leaving the Cam's pizza shop at LeMoyne College.

The juveniles surrounded her and the 12-year-old suspect demanded her purse. Police say that when the woman refused to give up her purse, the 12-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and threatened her.

The 12-year-old suspect made off with the woman's purse.

Officers found the youngsters and located the woman's purse and a pellet gun that was used in the robbery.

Police say an investigation determined that only the 12-year-old suspect was able to be charged. The suspect is charged with robbery in the first degree.

Police point out this suspect was one of several juveniles suspects arrested by the Syracuse Police for burglary earlier in the week.

This juvenile suspect was lodged at the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center and is set to appear in Family Court.

The other three juveniles involved in this incident, whose ages range between 10 to 12 years of age, were turned over to their parents or guardians.
