Four break into Danforth School
SYRACUSE -- Four teenagers are accused of breaking into a Syracuse school and trying to make off with electronic equipment.
Syracuse Police say they charged three juveniles and a 17-year-old male in a burglary that happened around 5:50 p.m. Saturday at Danforth School at 309 West Brighton Avenue.
Police say the school burglary alarm was tripped. Responding police officers found the door on the west side of the school forced open.
While police were searching the building, four young males tried to run off but were captured nearby.
Officers later found backpacks filled with laptops and projectors stashed near the building exits.
All four were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.
Police arrested Dashon Bloodworth, 17, a 14-year-old boy, and two 12-year-old boys, all from Syracuse.
The two 12-year-olds and the 14-year-old were charged as juveniles and will appear in Family Court. Bloodworth was booked at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending arraignment in Syracuse City Court.
This comes just before Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner’s informational meeting to talk about the recent rise in juvenile crime in the city. Miner and Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler will meet with about 120 community leaders Monday evening.
