ITHACA -- A bomb scare at Ithaca High School disrupted school most of the day.

Early Thursday afternoon, around 1:00 p.m., a suspicious looking electronic device was found abandoned in a hallway by a row of lockers in the K-Building. That building was evacuated.

The Ithaca Police and Fire Departments quickly responded to investigate the device. They weren't able to determine the origin of the device and called in the Endicott Police Bomb Squad.

The Bomb Squad arrived at 4:15 p.m. and determined the device wasn't explosive. The scene was finally cleared just before 5:30 p.m. The incident tied up police and fire officials from three different police and fire agencies, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars.

Ithaca Police believe the device was brought to the school by a student as a prank. They are working with school officials as they continue their investigation.
