The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse announced the birth of a new baby and it's not a human. They made the announcement Friday, welcoming a baby patas monkey.

The baby was born on November 30th and they planned to make the announcement Thursday but had to cancel the media event due to a power outage. They have not determined the gender yet and will wait to give it a name. They invite the public to help choose the name.

A human was accidentally born last Friday at the zoo near the penguin exhibit with zoo staff aiding the mother while she was in labor. The last animal birth at the zoo was in August when two snow leopard cubs were born.

The new baby can be seen on exhibit at the zoo and via a web cam at the Zoo's website.
