SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man underwent emergency surgery after getting shot in the chest on Tuesday evening.

Syracuse Police say Aubrey Anderson, 26, of Syracuse, was at the intersection of Butternut Street and Knaul Street at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday when he was shot in the chest. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital in serious condition.

He underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet from his chest, and is expected to survive.

Police say the suspect is a black man in his late teens, standing at 5'5'' and 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black coat, green pants and armed with a silver handgun. The suspect was last seen running east on Knaul Street.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact Syracuse Police.
