SYRACUSE -- Interstate 81 Northbound is now open again after an accident near the 7th North Street exit shut it down for a brief period.

The call came in to the Onondaga county 911 just after 9:00 p.m. Monday night.

Police say the roads are icy and contributed to the accident. Police shut down 81 North at Exit 23, the Old Liverpool Road exit, for a short time following the accident.

There have been several other accidents on Interstate 81 and other roads today due to slippery conditions from the wintry mix that swept through the area.
