NEW BERLIN, CHENANGO COUNTY --

Eleven cows are dead, after a truck carrying almost three dozen cattle crashed and rolled over on a rural road in Chenango County.

It happened on Route 8 in New Berlin, about 50 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Police say slippery roads from Wednesday night's snow storm contributed to the crash.

New Berlin Police says it took several hours to clean up the crash scene. The truck was hauling 34 cattle.

Veterinarians were called to the scene to treat the inured animals.
