SYRACUSE -- On Sunday, thousands are expected to walk to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer.

The annual Making Strikes Against Breast Cancer walk is Sunday on South Clinton Street in Syracuse.

On Friday, Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney joined the American Cancer Society in painting a pink stripe down South Clinton Street.

"To me it says, 'We're sick of this. We're sick of cancer and want to fight back.' We're here to do that" said Betsy Guilfoil of the American Cancer Society.

More than 7,000 walkers took part in last year's three mile walk, and officials with the American Cancer Society hope to beat that number this year.

The walk is Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Syracuse. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.
