A must stop for politicians

Election Day draws a crowd at Our Lady of Pompei School.  This is the 63rd year for their spaghetti dinner

Our Lady of Pompei's school (technically the Bishop's Academy at Pompei) hosts the biggest and one of the longest-running election day dinners. In this presidential election year, the crowds were huge.

Staffers spent two weekends last month hand-rolling 6,000 meatballs and making up 200 gallons of sauce. With garlic bread, salad (golden Italian dressing), and a brownie, plus wine or beer extra, it's a big meal.

The food is only part of the experience though, politicians say it's a 'must' stop on Election Day. Thousands of area residents who also have their traditional lunch here say it's a place to meet, see, and be seen.

They expect 6,500 to come through this year by the time the last spaghetti is served at 7:00 p.m.
