TOWN OF PARIS (AP) -- Authorities say one teenager has died and two others are recovering after they were hit by a sport utility vehicle while walking along a central New York road.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says the teens were hit shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the town of Paris, just south of Utica.

Officials say 19-year-old Travis Leitz of Frankfort was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where he died a short time later.

They say a 17-year-old Courtney Randall of Paris and 18-year-old Casey Cook were treated at the same hospital for injuries that aren't life-threatening.

The SUV was driven by a 27-year-old man from Cassville. Deputies say Monday morning they don't expect to ticket the driver, but the incident remains under investigation.
