A local teen, has died after a long battle with cancer. Fifteen year old Eunique Darby, passed away on Monday in Rochester.
Eunique Darby suffered from leukemia and doctors struggled for months to find a bone marrow donor for her.
Eventually they did find one and during the search, local organizations ran registry drives which added hundreds of names to the donor list.
Everyday there are 6,000 patients searching the National Donor Program registry for a life saving match. These patients have lymphoma,leukemia and other life threatening diseases.
If you're interested in joining the registry and giving someone another chance at life, there is a bone marrow drive Saturday, December 6th at the OnCenter as part of Mary Nelsons Youth Day.
There is no cost to join that day. All that's required is a swab of your cheek and you must be between the ages of 18 and 60 and be willing to donate to any patient in need.
Calling hours for Eunique Darby are on Saturday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the God's Way Church, That is at 1800 South Salina Street in Syracuse. Funeral Services follow the calling hours.
