The price for a gallon of gas recently has been music to the ears of many local drivers, but not all of the motoring public is happy just yet.

Truck drivers are still grumbling about the price for diesel. At the Pilot truck stop in Mattydale Friday night the price was $2.86 per gallon, which means truckers are still bearing the brunt of higher prices.

Action News spoke with Alabama trucker Ben Ray, who says the price per gallon in his home state was $2.20 a gallon and he doesn't understand why the prices here in the Northeast are still high, which cuts into his bottom line.

For other drivers though, the price per gallon has now dropped below $2.00 a gallon in most places.

That's good news for folks like Tim Butera. He's a pizza delivery driver for Marks Pizza in Salina.. He makes 20 to 25 deliveries a night within a five mile radius of the shop. Tim has to burn his own gas to make sure customers get their pie on time and the the price for a gallon of gas has been a godsend, according to Tim.

In July, the price per gallon was above $4.00, and for many Central New Yorkers who get behind the wheel for a living like pizza delivery drivers, they've been able to pocket the savings.
