OWEGO, TIOGA COUNTY (AP) -- Lockheed Martin has handed layoff notices to about 130 employees at the company's operations in the Southern Tier.
The company had originally announced that it would cut 225 jobs in Owego, west of Binghamton. The job cuts are a result of spending reductions in the U.S. defense budget.
The Owego plant employs about 4,000 people, including about 800 who work on the presidential helicopter project that has been halted by the Pentagon.
