Cornell biomedical engineer one of 5 honored

Dr. Nozomi Nishimura is one of five women scientists to receive this year's L'Oreal USA Fellowship for Women in Science. The $60,000 prize will allow the Cornell biomedical engineer to continue her work on the causes of Alzheimer's disease.  She is looking at whether blood vessel injuries increase the proteins that lead Alzheimer's.  In addition she works at mentoring younger women in scientific careers, in part by showing her lab and what she does.  For more on the awards: http://www.lorealusa.com/_en/_us/index.aspx?direct1=00008&direct2=00008/00001
