Weak “EF0” tornado confirmed in Kirkwood
BINGHAMTON -- The National Weather Service in Binghamton has confirmed that a weak “EF0” tornado swiped near Kirkwood in Broome county on Sunday. An “EF0” tornado is the weakest category of tornado. It was estimated that the maximum winds were roughly 75 mph. The tornado first touched down at the bottom of a hill behind some trees. According to storm surveys, there were 3 heavily damaged large limbed trees. The tornado was at most 50 yards wide and travelled only 175 yards in length before lifting back into the sky.
