ITHACA -- Cornell and Ithaca Police are teaming up after a string of robberies in the Collegetown area. The University says the joint partnership will patrol on and around campus, including Collegetown.

The University is also encouraging students to take advantage of the University's "blue light" emergency system.  There are also auxiliary police who will escort students and visitors anywhere they wish to go on or off campus between the hours of 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM while classes are in session.

Cornell Police say there appears to be a pattern to the robberies. Students like Whitney Bartell say the robberies have put them on edge. " There have been nights when I won't leave my apartment because I am afraid to walk to campus," Bartell says.

Information about the Cornell Auxiliary Police and blue light services can be found at www.cupolice.cornell.edu.
