BINGHAMTON -- Police have charged a grad student with murder after the death of a professor at Binghamton University. Police say 46-year-old Abdulsalam S. Al-Zahrani stabbed Professor Emeritus Richard Antoun in one of the science buildings Friday afternoon.
Antoun, 77, is a professor of Anthropology at Binghamton University. Al-Zahrani is a Saudi national who is studying Anthropology at the school. The two knew each other through the graduate program.
Investigators say there is no indication of religious or ethnic motivation. Police did not release any other information about a motive.
Al-Zahrani was arraigned in Town of Vestal Court and sent to the Broome County Correctional Facility without bail.
