KINGSTON, JAMAICA (AP) -- Officials in Jamaica say more than 40 people were injured, including four seriously when an American Airlines flight overshot a runway during a heavy rainstorm in Kingston.

Jamaican Information Minister Daryl Vaz says the airplane is cracked in three places and that 44 people were taken to local hospitals with broken bones and other injuries. An American Airlines vice president says four people were seriously hurt.

An American spokesman says all passengers are off the plane. More than 150, including crew, were aboard.

Flight 331 took off from Miami International Airport at 8:52 p.m. and arrived at Norman Manley International Airport at 10:22 p.m. The flight originated at Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C.

One passenger says the whole flight was turbulent.
