SYRACUSE -- A major winter storm in the Midwest is causing delays for holiday travelers in Central New York.
Two hundred flights were canceled out of Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, delaying travel plans for thousands trying to get to be with relatives for the holidays. Some of those relatives were waiting at Hancock International Airport for hours Wednesday night.
Bob Holder came down from Ontario, Canada to pick up his daughter who was on a flight from Chicago. "The flight was supposed to be here at 5:30, then 6:30, now it is 8:30 and it is still not here yet, It may never get here at this rate," Holder says.
Nationwide there is expected to be an increase in travel for the holidays. The airlines are recommending holiday travelers give themselves double the amount of time and call ahead to check on flights.
