PENN YAN -- The Village of Penn Yan Police Department with the assistance of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Forest Rangers, Massasauga Search and Rescue, Ski Patrol Search and Rescue and numerous Fire and Ambulance agencies spent Wednesday January 27, 2009 continuing search efforts to locate Marilyn Whitaker, an 83 year old female who has been missing since Friday, January 22nd. Approximately eighty-five members were involved in the search that covered areas in the Village of Penn Yan, Town of Jerusalem and the Town of Benton. Despite the efforts of the search party, Mrs. Whitaker was not located.
The Police Department plans to continue its investigation, and requests that everyone who lives in the surrounding area check their property as well as any garages or outbuildings in an effort to locate Mrs. Whitaker.
