SYRACUSE -- Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will speak at Syracuse University on the role of government in the current economic crisis.  Spitzer resigned from office just a year into his first term after a federal investigation into a prostitution ring revealed he was a client of one of the hookers.   Before being elected governor, Spitzer was New York Attorney General. In that role, he earned the nickname as 'The Sheriff of Wall Street" for his crackdowns on suspect dealings in the financial sector. Spitzer will speak  about the current financial crisis and the "political, economic, and social consequences of deregulation," according to a news release from the Maxwell School at SU.

Spitzer's talk is free and open to the public.  It starts at 5:00pm in the Maxwell Auditorium. A special parking rate is available in the Irving Garage for $3.50.
