SYRACUSE (AP) -- A Syracuse teenager was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for shooting a 22-year-old man to death outside an apartment complex last summer. Seventeen-year-old Hykeem Davis was sentenced on Friday. He pleaded guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter in the July 24 death of Dwayne Hayes.

The plea deal was arranged because of conflicting witness identifications of the gunman who shot Hayes and differing accounts of what led to the shooting.  Davis' 21-year-old brother faces prosecution in a separate fatal shooting. Jabre Davis is accused in the May 25 fatal shooting of 28-year-old Jamar Ellis.
