WALTON, NY (AP) -- Police in Walton say 74-year-old Richard Utter of Norwich shot 65-year-old Daisy Schultz inside her apartment in the Delaware County village, located 40 miles east of Binghamton.
Police say Utter then turned the gun on himself.
Authorities say neighbors heard the gunshots Sunday morning and called 911. Police say Utter shot Schultz several times.
They say the two had been in a relationship since last fall.
