MADISON AND ONEIDA COUNTIES -- New York State Police and other law enforcement officials across Central New York are cracking down on aggressive driving.  It's all part of a campaign to keep drivers safe this summer.

The crackdown will feature targeted enforcement and focus heavily on Madison and Oneida Counties.

Aggressive driving will be defined as anything from speeding, to making unsafe lane changes, to tailgating, talking/texting on your phone while driving and driving under the influence.  These types of driving behaviors cause hundreds of accidents each year and this summer law enforcement is looking to keep that number down.

Law enforcement will be targeting several areas in both counties.  Some of the areas with stepped up patrols are Route 5 in the City of Oneida, Route 365 and Route 5A in Kirkland, New Hartford and Yorkville.

The crack down will last through the summer.
