HOLLAND PATENT, ONEIDA CO. -- Several people were arrested recently after police say they were involved with a break-in, thefts, and vandalism at a local school.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, eight individuals ranging in age from 19 to 21 years old are accused of breaking into the Holland Patent High School over the weekend of May 15-16. Investigator Richard Dodge says that over the two nights windows were broken and walls were written on inside the school, causing more than $2,500 in damage. Dodge says money was also taken from a teacher’s desk. The suspects also allegedly broke into the school’s pool and went swimming that same weekend.
Police say those charged in the incidents are:
- Cory R. Abrams, age 19 of Glass Factory Road in Holland Patent
- Ronald A. Ritzel Jr., age 21 of Fish Lane Road in Marcy
- Ryan G. Boxall, age 20 of Glass Factory Road in Holland Patent
- Patrick R. O'Hern, age 19 of Miller Road in Holland Patent
- Rachel L. Nadeau, age 19 of Whittaker Road in Holland Patent
- Rachel M. Barnard, age 19 of Gravesville Road in Poland
- Cody A. Bradley, age 20 of Route 291 in Marcy
- Richard E. Joyal, age 20 of Boon Street in Barneveld
Police say all eight were charged with burglary and arraigned in Village of New York Mills Court. All, with the exception of Cody Bradley, were released on recognizance. Bradley was committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 bail.
