SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Police Department tells CNY Central that they have made an arrest in the second of two stabbings that took place on Tuesday.
Police say a 16-year-old girl from Syracuse was stabbed at approximately 8:45 p.m. on the 300 block of West Ostrander Avenue. The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment to a stab wound in the back, and police say her injury is not life threatening.
Police say their investigation into the stabbing resulted in the arrest of a suspect late Tuesday night. The suspect was identified as 16-year-old Lattiania Solomon of Genesee Park Drive in Syracuse. Solomon has been charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon and second degree assault. She was held in the Onondaga County Justice Center Tuesday night and was arraigned in Syracuse City Court Wednesday morning.
This was the second of two stabbings that happened Tuesday, both involving juveniles. The first stabbing occurred around 5:15 p.m. when a girl was stabbed in the torso. She was listed in serious but stable condition as of Tuesday morning. A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with assault in that case.
