FULTON -- Fulton Police were involved in a chase last night that led them through Oswego and Onondaga counties before finally coming to an end in Tully.
Police report the incident began at 10:07 p.m. when a Fulton officer on patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier yesterday. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and police say led them on a chase down State Route 48, onto Route 690 and onto Interstate 81 South.
The chase came to an need when the car ran over some stop sticks, which deflated the tires.
The driver was later identified as 26-year-old Terry M. Smith Jr. of Syracuse. Smith is being held in Fulton Police Department lockup pending arraignment on numerous charges including: Criminal Possession of Stolen Property Third Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Seventh Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle First Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving.
Joining in the chase were Oswego Sheriff's deputies, Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies, state police,. and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Air One helicopter.
