Family creates 'living' memorial
Dedication is set for Saturday afternoon, for a new rest area on the Erie Canal park in Memphis.
The family of financial advisor Bryan Place, who died suddenly last January, noticed ther was no rest area on the Erie Canal Path, just of Bennett's Corner's Road, so planned a bench in Bryan’s memory. Bryan’s many relatives volunteered to surround the “bench” with a mini park area. The Town of Van Buren holds dedication ceremonies at 4pm and the public is welcome, in hopes of generating more volunteer efforts for the Erie Canal path.
