A new report shows those diet supplements you may buy could be filled with bad ingredients that can harm your health.
Only a third of the 54,000 diet supplements on the market have been proven safe by scientific evidence, according to Consumer Reports. You can read the article here.
Those supplements deemed unsafe may contain ingredients that may cause cancer, heart problems, or kidney damage.
The food and drug administration does not have the power to regulate these supplements, so they remain on store shelves.
Consumer Reports lists 12 supplement ingredients that are considered the most dangerous. They are:

- Bitter orange
- Chaparral
- Colloidal silver
- Coltsfoot
- Comfrey
- Country mallow
- Germanium
- Greater celandine
- Kava
- Lobelia
- Yohimbe
