Benefit for Wanderer's Rest. Shamrock Animal Fund will join event.
More than a dog walk--Wanderers' Rest Canine Festival will be in Chittenango
For several years, it was called Paws along the Erie, but now the 'Canine Classic' is back, and back at its 'home' in Madison County. Glenn Ivers, director at Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, says it's his shelter's biggest fundraiser, and will be at Jim Marshall Farms, on New Boston Road in Chittenango. It's the first time it's been back in Madison County since 2002.
Ivers--who visited with his adoptee, a Staffordshire terrier named Jessie-- says all dog owners are invited to walk their pets on the large walking track, and there are indoor facilities if the weather is bad. Besides games and activities, there will also be an educational piece, on dogs that are looking for homes.
WSTM-TV NBC 3 Anchor Matt Mulcahy will be part of the Canine Classic as the Master of Ceremonies and also representing the Shamrock Animal Fund. He co-founded the Shamrock Animal Fund with his wife Jamie Pomilio-Mulcahy after the passing earlier this year of their 19 year old poodle Shamrock. The Shamrock Animal Fund will be there to talk about the numerous animals it has helped this summer and ways people can donate to support the organization which provides financial assistance for veterinary care for animals in need.
The Canine Classic is on Sunday, September 26th. More informationat www.wanderers-rest.com or 697-2796.
