6,000+ handmade meatballs, ready to serve
Some of the 6,000+ meatballs being handmade. Photojournalist Andrew Perdue says they taste pretty good, too!
It may be Columbus Day weekend, but volunteers at a Syracuse Northside church and school are working to make sure their Election Day dinner is a success. It is meatball rolling day for volunteers from Our Lady of Pompei church and Cathedral Academy. Saturday morning at 7am they began rolling out 6,000+ meatballs, by hand, working in the school cafeteria on North McBride Street. The meatballs will be frozen, to be served with homemade sauce in just over 3 weeks. The fundraiser supports the church and the school.
The 61st annual Election Day Spaghetti Supper will be on November 2nd, serving 11:30am - 7pm---it's the traditional lunch stop for politicians, and a get-together for neighbors and former area residents and their extended families. If you want to sample but don't want to eat at the school, there's also takeout, if you call 422-8548 on Monday 11/1 from 5 to 10pm.
