FAIRFIELD, N.Y. (AP) -- State police say a 71-year-old Pennsylvania man mistook a fellow hunter for a turkey and blasted him with a round from his 12-gauge shotgun in Herkimer County.
The other hunter, 65-year-old Richard Smith of Blain, Pa., was taken by ambulance to a Utica hospital to remove pellets from his face and upper body. Police say the wounds weren't life-threatening.
Michael Iskricof Loysville, Pa., was charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and released with an appearance ticket for the Town of Fairfield Court.
The accident happened around 7:15 Wednesday morning.
