WATERTOWN -- Former President Bill Clinton campaigned in Central New York again Monday as Democrats fight against what is expected to be a Republicans tidal wave at the polls tomorrow.

Clinton campaigned on behalf of Congressman Bill Owens this morning at the Ramada Inn in Watertown. Friday night, the former president campaigned for Democrat Michael Arcuri in Utica. A few weeks ago, Clinton rallied supporters of Democrat Dan Maffei of Syracuse.

All three men hold seats in what have been traditionally Republican districts. Owens became the first Democrat in more than a hundred years to represent the North Country. He won a close special election last year, narrowly beating Conservative Doug Hoffman in a three way race.

In the latest Siena College poll released October 28th, Owens and a 40% to 37% lead over Republican Matt Doheny. Doug Hoffman, who appears on the Conservative line but has endorsed Doheny still gathered the support of  15% of these surveyed and 8 % were undecided. Congressional Quarterly and NY Times analysis lists the battle in the 23rd Congressional District as a tossup.
